Winter Walking

Also in winter passionate hiking fans lace up their walking boots, getting ready for wonderful 40 kilometers of cleared and maintained winter walking routes and trails. In case of freshly fallen snow, the trails and toboggan runs are cleared as quickly as possible. This is a fabulous way to explore snow-covered landscapes of great natural beauty, far away from the beaten tracks. Wintry Ötztal is really hard to beat when it comes to nature exploration.

Ice Climbing

Adventurous ice climbing is made to measure for sporty people but also for less experienced climbers. Over the last years ice climbing has become a whole new trend! Here in Ötztal you can choose from varied frozen waterfalls, ranging from easy and intermediate to quite difficult. Every Thursday from late December to late February, a night climbing event on a floodlit, frozen waterfall is scheduled in the village center of Längenfeld. Certified mountain guides and climbing instructors can give plenty of useful advice and tips on how to use climbing irons and ice picks.

Ski Mountaineering

High up in the Alpine mountains there is a hidden paradise for ski tour fans and ski mountaineers. Unspoilt nature in abundance. Peace and quiet to the fore. Glittering glacier fields under a deep blue sky. Especially in spring and in the late winter months the entire valley turns into a heaven for ski mountaineers. One of the most scenic spots is Gries im Sulztal high above Längenfeld, a fabulous ski mountaineering base attracting winter fans from Tirol and abroad.
